Pathfinder book recommendations please

Can anybody please recommend a good book on the Pathfinder Force, reference or biography but not fiction? If it has strong 582 Squadron links so much the better.

Thanks

Master Bombers/Pathfinders

Thanks to all who came yesterday. It was great to meet you all and the old boys were overwhelmed with the interest and respect shown. Happy to help in any way with any q’s. Just drop me a line/message – or whatever it is you do on these things! Sean

Attended the book signing today, well worth it and well attended. Six ex members of Nos. 582/109 Squadrons were in attendance. We must never forget the contribution these gentlemen made during the last war. The book is a lasting testiment to their skills as Pathfinder Lancaster crews.

Author will be signing copies at Waterstones in Silver St, Bedford from 11:00 to 13:00 hrs this Sat 14/06. Ex 582 Sq veterans will be present as they are holding a reunion in Bedford. Most likely church service Lt Staughton on the Sunday am.
I bought a copy in Waterstones today and hope to be there.

Book is very good.

Keith – a new book called Master Bombers has just been published and focuses solely on 582 squadron. You might find what you need there – if not – get in touch with me and i may be able to help. Sean

I picked this book up at Duxford Spring time airshow where Sean and a few of the pilots were signing copies and cant recommend it enough;top read.Maybe Sean could tell us if he is doing another book signing at any upcoming shows as it was an absolute pleasure meeting these legends

Hi Stan, I note your interest in 582, a few months ago I agreed to help trace a lost relative of a friend, from 582 ? It seems information is scarse, but with help from this and other forum I was lucky enough to get a scanned photo of the actual aircraft involved ! So its out there ! Just the knowing where to look seems the hardest part.
I found the roll of honour website at Bedfordshire very indepth, hopefully a link below. Keith.

“Mosquito Pathfinder” by Albert and Ian Smith Crecy Books 2003,excellent account of a No 109 Squadron Mosquito navigator.

“Pathfinder Force-A History of 8 Group” by Gordon Musgrove .McDonald and Jane 1976. Hard to find but very detailed raids analysis.

Hope this helps. The No 109/582 Squadron Association was disbanded a few years ago.
