Did anyone watch this on Channel 5 last night.
For those who didn’t it was mainly about Ian Flemings work in Naval Intelligence during the war, including the dastardly plot to crash a captured He 111 next to a German ship and capture an Enigma machine, plus the debate as to which British commando was the figure apon which Bond was based. All fascinating stuff.
The best part though was an interview with Ken Wallis who explained how they shot the autogyro scenes, no CGI then, he did all the stunt sequences himself, sounded pretty dangerous to me. He finished off with a demonstration of flying at the current age of 93, what a top bloke. He also explained how the missiles on Little Nell actually were fired during the making of the film, no special effects there either, he reckoned he was well capable of bringing down a large helicopter as shown in the film!!

I did watch this whilst trying to get ready to go to work and it was very interesting. The plot involving crashing the German bomber was interesting, i certainly had not herd of it before.
From an aviation point of view i wish the interview with Ken had been longer but it was amasing to learn those rockets realky worked. It was nice to see some clips of him flying to.
