Whitwick Aeromart This Saturday!

Just a quick reminder to everyone that the 25th Whitwick Aeromart is on this Saturday, 26th April at The Hermitage Leisure Centre, Silver St. Whitwick, Leicestershire. J13 M42, J22 M1 (5 miles from each). It opens at 8.45am for earlybird entry (£5) or 10am for people who prefer a lie-in (£2.50). The event closes at 2pm.
I am pleased to report an increase in stallholders since the last event a year ago – an encouraging sign. Please do come and support the event if you can. It is far more fun than ebay! Buy, sell, swap and barter….

See you there?

Had I been there, I would have been interested in a Lightning control column. Just out of curiosity, whats the going rate for one, complete with working switches and brake lever?

The one I referred to was £200, iirc. That sounds about right for one as they are none too common. That was for the grip only, by the way.

Did someone mention Firefly?
Now i can put a face to a name…

We should wear red carnations…or hats…or something with our ‘names’ on shouldn’t we. 😀

…assume that you are interested in engine stuff?

Yes, but I don’t have enough Griffon bits to help you out, sorry. 🙂

And a very nice Merlin piston too !!!

I tried…I really did try…not to buy it…but it was so nice…and the rod was so seized…it will be so difficult to get it apart…I’m really looking forward to it. 😮

Well I had a thoroughly good time…the sun was shining…drove 90 miles there in my trusty Golf TDi and arrived at 08:44…..Ka-Chow! (to quote Lightning McQueen).

I was slightly disappointed in the stalls until I found a nice DB601 liner/piston/connecting-rod assembly…then I found some Bristol Hercules bits too. Had some interesting conversations with some of the stallholders and didn’t even have time to look at the books (which was lucky really…I’ve got too many books).

Sort of ‘half-met’ somebody who is building a Fairey Firefly…awfully familiar sounding story…must be somebody on this forum.

Spent far more than I intended and will have to sell something to pay for it all…..a kidney probably! 😀

Hey, I couldnt help it matey 😮

my mrs works nights so i picked her up this morning and I assumed she would be going to bed for the day, I assumed wrong, it really kicked off, infact i felt bloody awful,:(
she had “Other” plans for me, like most woman do, and pretty much gave me a ultimatum, weve been having a rough time for quite a while, and “Whitwick” was the detonator for her , hence to say ive had a rotten day, I have 2 children so i am not going to break up for the sake of my canberra,
she is sick to the teeth of me and my plane stuff , its everywhere, cant move for it she says, I expect if it was any other hobby it would be the same, I am sorry i could Not go, and as for engine panel and coloumn etc,
thats parts i need,
sorry to have let you down, 😮
and Now i am REALLY gutted i couldnt go, tell you what i will go in there now and have another ding dong with her, and tell her what ive missed today,
Bloody woman, they just dont understand,
thanks , perhaps , you might (not) throw them in the bin ?? pretty please with a cherry on top ??
thanks agian,
a very very depressed and p@@@ed off , gutted, miserable , fed up,
hacked off, (go and slit me throat) 🙁
Merkle :dev2:

Don’t have a further ding dong, the stuff is back in my shed, safe for now, unused, unloved, crying out for a cockpit to go into.

You didnt let me down, the bits would have gone anyway !

Merkle,

Sorry to hear about you domestic upset. However, if it’s any consolation, you didn’t miss much.
I travelled 110 miles each way and came away with a box of nuts!
Still, it was good to meet a few people and chew the cud for a bit. That is something that you can’t do on e-Bay.
Most parting shots were “see you at Newark”. Seems like this event is now the highlight of most people’s year – and there’s an aerojumble there too.

See you at Newark!

Well speaking from the other side of the table it seemed many people were just walking around looking, but not showing much interest, there were some nice bits there I thought were reasonably priced. Including Sperry Ball Turrett stuff

I saw a lot of nice bits that stallholders took home with them, if prices were seemingly high then no one even attempted to haggle !

I bought a mint P51 mustang aerial very cheap as well as other P51 cockpit stuff for a friend for his project all very reasonable

See you at Newark!

There’s info right at the bottom of the news page on their website

“AEROBOOT 2008
The 2008 AEROBOOT Aviation & Avionics Sales will take place as part of COCKPIT-FEST 2008 on Saturday June 14 and Sunday June 15, 2008….”
