IIRC, it’s a 330 rather than a Skyvan. Not sure that any of the latter are preserved.

Mmm Skyvan, the sight of which prompts me to ask; apart from the odd flyers are there any preserved in museums etc?

Oh go on Stuart feel free. 😀
G-AOHL was the first thing i was let loose on as a spotty 16 year old apprentice at BAF, and hence my interest. Guess it was not to be.

Well that makes you at least the fourth person who has had similar experiences with that Viscount. and many others have had similar experiences with other items
The usual way is a deal is agreed and then you turn up at the yard to see what you thought you had bought been taken away by someone else, or long gone, or worse in one instance to see a rare F4J cockpit stripped with a disc cutter by an over excited enthusiast.

These were from a couple of years ago, plus a definite reluctance to part with the Viscount Cockpit, despite it being offered a few months earlier at £500 🙁

Most of what is left is used for film props and is therefore not for sale.
Steve now does very little scrapping as it has little or no return.
He still occassionaly clears bits from Foulness

the attitude became increasingly less helpful or even polite, the majority of aircraft were cleared years ago.
So it wasn’t just me then!!! I thought that Steve was particularly unhelpful and disinterested, I had a wedge of cash burning a hole in my pocket and they had what I wanted, still, Richard Hukins was more greatful of my custom.

Personally I wouldnt waste any time going there, a few years ago it was tremendous, loads of spares, and cockpits, I bought a Canberra for £250.
In later years all the contracts dwindled and the attitude became increasingly less helpful or even polite, the majority of aircraft were cleared years ago.

Hanningfield Metals – not much in there compared to the past. A list is in W&R of the inmates.
