East Kirkby

Visited East Kirkby for the first time in many years w/e and was stunned at how much has been achieved.

A few questions:

Are there any plans for a fly in or is the new runway simpy there for Jane to taxi on?

Is EK classed as a museum or an active aerodrome? I noticed the fire tender parked up nearby and wonder if they have atc facilities, but obviously not in the Watch Tower itself.

Its weird being inside the pill box, as its the same one 18 years ago I bunked off school to go and have a look at, but it was boarded up. The sign says it weighs 33 tons and was moved from Spilsby by a bulldozer!

My pic is in the control tower but wrongly listed as a Vulcan B2 – its actually the ex 57 squardon Victor based at Duxford!

What annoys me is that there is the will power and skill to get Just Jane flying again, and the money is out there, but with these slow witted EU rules it would make the likelyhood of it non existant.

I highly recomend a visit. Jane is set to run this wednesday and satarday.
