I photographed this in Norway about three years ago. Presumably it is an ex 46 Squadron Hurricane, but which one? And where did the wreck come from? I was a bit tied up with other things so forgot to ask any details.

Hi Tyke,
Nice photo, thanks for sharing.
It’s possible this is a photo of one of the two Hurricanes that nosed over while trying to land at Skaanland on 26th May. A third ran off the field but was undamaged. I don’t know the serial numbers but maybe someone else will.

I hadn’t realised that fuel **** (my last post refers!) was a rude word. OK…fuel C.O.C.K then!!!!
What nob censored that?

46 Squadron
My brother was Sgt Pilot Stanley ANDREW who was with 46 Squadron in Norway in May-June 1940
I have a number of pictures taken there by PO John Fraser DRUMMOND and they include this one showing a Hurricane that crashed on landing

Slightly off topic, but does anyone have the address of a similar site that has abandoned tanks etc? it has been posted on this site before but i can’t track it down.
Thanks

That is all there was! If there had been a centre section then there may have been hope for the Hawker identity plate which is secured to one of the tubes inaside the cockpit area, just below the fuel ****. It clearly came off a hillside or mountain and my hope was that someone would recognise the wreckage. Isn’t there a website on Norwegian wrecks? At the moment, I’d rather be a little circumspect as to exactly where it is in Norway – although I do know that its location bears no relationship to the crash site.

Is there more than just that section??

I was thinking more along the lines, that if we knew where you took the picture, we had somewhere to start looking. Local newspapers, historic groups, or aviation organisations.
Norway is big.
By: Arabella-Cox - 29th March 2008 at 12:28
The location it was photographed was quite remote from the crash site itself, I believe.
By: Mondariz - 29th March 2008 at 12:23
Do you have a more precise location?
It might help in the search, if we had a bit more about the circumstances.

There is nothing I have in any written form – Norwegian or otherwise – about this wreck….just the photo which I took a few years ago. Would love to know its story, though!

But I’m sure there are Norwegians here, who can answer before I locate any online info.
I am one. If you come across any articles or written pieces in Norwegian I’d be happy to translate.

I understand Norwegian, so if you have any more info about it, I can browse some Norwegian papers and aviation sites.

Certainly is.

Hi Tangmere 1940, looks like an early fabric covered wing from the construction.
Steve.
