Wartime Biggin Spitfire Crash Info?

Does anyone know more about an accident that happened to a 92 Sqn Spitfire flown by a chap called Postlethwaite. Apparently it crash landed in a field and hit a house, which being made of wood, burned down.

This happened round the corner from where I now live and I’m trying to find out which aircraft was involved and any other details that may surface.

Thanks as always

That’s great – thanks very much.

If/when you manage to find the aircraft details I’d be very grateful.

Cheers

I have the details somewhere of the aircraft involved, but can tell you it was Sgt Frederick Edgar POSTLETHWAITE (1258780) of 92 Squadron. The date was 13 September 1941. Have an idea it was not an operational loss.

Cheers Dan, often been through those – plenty of good info but I don’t think they don’t have what I’m after.

Have you looked in “Biggin on the Bump” and “The Ghosts of Biggin Hill”?

Regards,

Dan
