We Need WW2 Aircraft for July 4th !

Hi there.I am really hoping that someone on this forum may be able to help me with a request that I have been given that is scheduled to take place on July 4th (Independance day !) 2008.I work at the Kings Mill Hospital in Nottinghamshire. This hospital was built in the early 1940’s and was the first American hospital to be based within the UK.The site has been a hospital ever since, and is currently undergoing a £320,000,000 refit, and the new building is due to open on the 4th July this year.We are renewing our links with our American cousins by inviting any of the staff/patients/GI brides that are able to come, to attend the opening ceremony. Some are making the trek from the US to the UK for this event, and we aould love to be able to stage a flypast of aircraft of the WW2 era.The BBMF have told us that they cannot attend, so we are urgently looking for owners/flyers of any WW2 US and UK aeroplanes that may be able to do the honours. We have a budget and would be able to pay for your costs if that would help (within reason…this is the NHS !:) )
If anyone has any idea’s for possible contacts, or indeed may be willing to attend on the day (avec aeroplane !) could you text/call me on my number below:
07974 935611 and ask for Andy
Many thanks.

Hi there. Thanks for the link to Maurice.Does he have a website or an email i can contact him on ?.I have spoken to Peter at Hangar 11 today and he thinks the venue is suitable for a flypast as it has plenty of open land around it and a large resevoir to the front !.Peter is going to send me a quote for attending the event in a P-51, but if anyone else is interested then please let me know, perhaps some american vehicles would be nice ! :-).Andy

Karl Edmondson has an Auster which he transports around the country on a regular basis. Its not a flyer, but an excellent ground exhibit – and fits in two car parking spaces…..

I’d ask Maurice Hammond.
He’s a real supporter of USAAF history and he has a number of airframes available…Stearman, Texan/Harvard, Mustang…so he can decide how much fuel he wants to burn for this mission.

You’ll almost certainly have more luck on the Historic Aviation forum with this one.
