Oh for gawds sake….. all these sat’ images were taken years ago… literally !!
The Phantom is (was) F-4J(UK) ZE361, scrapped in 2001.
EDIT: And for the teenagers amongst us… yes CORGI did make a model of it.
.
OK the images may have been taken years ago, but it is on Google Earth for all to see…..Literally:D

I’d suggest his ‘point’ is that he is providing first hand confirmation that it isn’t there now.
Your point is?

This has been discussed so many times on here…
Leeming used to have 3 phantoms – 2 were cut up around 2001, the last one survives complete (less engines). They were decoys located between AMF and XI(F) sqn HAS site.
The remaining phantom is being cared for to a degree, and yes, several museums are or have been in discussions.
The other aircraft which can be seen on various older satellite images are Javelins – one Leeming Gate guard, the other YAM’s example on loan.

B****r me your right, Looking at the paint scheme (light blue/grey with a black fin)& tailplane shadow hints that it may be a former 74 sqn F.4J- though I could be wrong!!!!!!:)
For those trying to find it it is on the northernmost of two large dispersals roughly due north of the runway.

well i went on a trip to leeming last summer
and they had 1 if not 2 phamtoms sitting at the end of the dissused runway
(i think there might of been another aircraft type…but im not sure)
maybe they are used as a “decoy” so if there was a strike on the airfield the phantomor wht eva could be thought of as a fighter by the enemy
only a thought as they sem to quite common
