Whilst taking a look inside Kemble’s ex-RAF Bristol Britannia I noticed a postion for a Radio operator (Air Signaller).
As the type was used up to the mid 1970’s, what was the role of the signaller? as I assume the civvy Brits did not have a radio officer?
I think the RAF Comet’s had a signaller as well and indeed the Hastings , just would like to know the a bit more about that crew members role.

A signaller at one time in the RAF was a title applied over radio, radar and some navigational tasks. As it happens I know an RAF Brit. Navigator, will give him a ring sometime and find out more for you.
