Aerial image aircraft indetification help please

I have been starring at this picture for awhile, and all i can get is a JU-52 (for the larger of the three aircraft). However, according to http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com there are no JU-52 at that location.

The trailing edge don’t seem to taper enough for a JU-52, but that could be due to the angle (standing nose high and seen directly from above).

The wingspan is around 90′

It could be a distorted C-47, but I don’t think the wings are right and the fuselage seem to square.

Does anyone have another guess?

There is Spitfire to the south to gauge the size of the large one.

I would go with the DC.3, Spit and Provost and to the North is another base with what I think are a couple of Mig 19’s (Shenyang). The Yemen is quite an interesting place too.

I think if you look at the a/c left wingtip, there is a squarish object which appears as if it is under the wingtip.and a very faint curved wingtip shape which is similar to a `Frighteners`. Also ,objects around the nose appear to be possibly information boards,or something not part of the a/c,although difficult to say if engines are still fitted and cargo doors too.

I was looking at wing-shapes too and also had trouble finding a match.

However, I can’t really make my self belive, thats its a JU52. What would it be doing there?

could be now you mention it

that wing planform is unique, I’ve been looking at as many 40’s/50’s US twins as I can, C-45, C-46, even a B-18 – none fit you may have cracked it and spoiled all of the fun !;)

I think the AC next to the “Spit” is a Hunting Percival Provost Mk 53. The Burmese air force flew these once, but I don’t think they flew SAAB Safir.

Looks like an engineless DC3 to me, and perhaps a SAAB Safir next to the Spit?

In case anyone want to check the base, here are the location:

20°53’1.35″N 95°53’33.19″E

Just cut and paste into GE search bar.

There are a wingless Ac west of the “unknown”. Looks like a T-tail modern turboprop of sorts.

Following west out of the base, there is a T-33 gate guard.

“Burmese Airforce had DC-3’s and Airspeed Oxfords, it’s not an Oxford, can’t see its a DC-3 either..”

That was what i was thinking too.

Im sure this is Meiktila Air Force Base (just a quite corner) and the spitfire is the southern most of the small aircraft.

any idea where in Burma?

Meiktila Air Force Base is supposed to have a Spitfire LF IX, but this doesn’t look like an air force base to me, the kids are out and the house is quiet, been having a happy 30 mins trying to google earth and all sorts….

To be sure, I just checked up on the Burmese Bristol Freighters.

They had two, but they were both sold to Australia in 1966.

VH-TBC
VH-TBD

However, the latter was appearenty never moved to Australia. So the aircraft could be that one. Although i still don’t really think it looks like one.

Pretty sure its not a Bristol.

There is one here:

Seems the leading edge taper too much (on the first picture).

Where it is might help….

Exactly.

Bristol Freighter?

It’s certainly not a Ju 52/3m. If it were a Ju52, it would be inside, in Canada. 😉
