Yet another Google Earth post

Since my last post about locating aircraft wrecks in the pacific using Google Earth, I have been thinking about another use for the technology, along the lines suggested by Mark Pilkington in this post:

Basically its a collection of locations and information about a specific part of the war. Google earth has a feature that allows people to add information, either to the actual database, or as files downloaded to the application by choice.

I have not lost “faith” in the use of Google Earth for loacting aircraft remains, but since i from the start realised, that it was not a one-mand show (a task like that needs crowdsourcing), I will give the idea a rest for now.

Instead I have started a collection of “points of interest” connected with the famous “The hump” route from India to China. It is my idea, that eventually this information will be available in a file, so people can download it and enjoy it on Google earth. Complete with location markers, pictures and stories.

In that connection I’m looking for any “tasty” bits of information, like alternative airports not mentioned in the normal list, crash sites (not listed in the ASN database, well even if they are just post them). They need not be right on the money, since most aircraft lost in flight were actually LOST.

So basically anything that you would like to see in such a Google earth collection. Also, any suggestion regarding the “collection” would be appriciated and if possible included.
