Our baby Grumman Yankee AA1 (G-SEXY) which is on static display here at Speke had a small crack in the canopy when we got her and this was stop-drilled which seemed to keep things happy until some drunken fools decided to play in the aircraft one night and in trying to open the canopy they extended the crack quite considerably.
The extreme winds last night (we presume) finally put paid to the rest and this morning the canopy was in 1,007 pieces scattered across the apron 🙁
If anyone out there knows of a suitable canopy in need of a home, please let me know. I’ve asked Aircraft Spruce in the USofA for a quote but suspect that the shipping will cost more than the canopy !
