Many years ago my dad bought a British DFC from a builder who claimed to have found it in the basement of a house he was demolishing. There is no name, but it is dated 1944. With it came an American Air Medal and a brass plaque from the Polaris Flight Academy – the name on the plate is H W Clyne and he graduated in 1942.
I do not know if all the items originated from the same person, but have often wondered.
Does anyone know of a list of British DFC recipients? I wonder if a H W Clyne ever recieved the DFC, if so it is likely to be his.
Thanks to anyone who can help…

My god – thanks everyone. Looks like they are his medals after all – and I am now able to put a name to those initials.
I will have to look into those dates to try and find out how the awards were won.
I’ll try and post a pic soon as well.
All the best and thanks again.

Just to add a bit more to the photo, Clyne’s unit when the photo was taken was 1401 Met Flight. If the reference ‘C 1945-04’ means circa April 1945, then 1401 Met Flight was at Melsbroek to 14 April then at Eindhoven.
