RAF Woolfox

After recent visits to RAF Woolfox with kind permission, we’d like to share a few pictures of the site.

I don’t want to overload you folks with the history of the site so on with the pictures:

Hope this gives an insite into the old RAF Woolfox Lodge and thanks again for allowing us to visit.

Please be aware this is an active site with farm personnel and staff of nearby businesses on site at all times, we had been on site for less than 5 minutes when we were approached, after a short explanation all was well, however prosecution has been promised to others.

I pass this site on a regular basis, and often thought about asking for a look around, but fiding somewhere to park a 45 foot trailer, with tractor unit, could prove difficult.

Eddie Stobart used to have a depot in the small industrial estate, where now a shopfitting company use.

I would like to see the side of the airfield that you perhaps can’t see from the A1,just to be nosey more than anything else, but thanks for the pics.

Ken.

It was, and the ground floor front office look’s to be a RAF Police guard room when the Bloodhound misssiles were there in the late fiftie’s. Tried to get permission to view but very odd farmer ! when i rang him a few years ago.

Great photos Gingie.

I have a feeling the tower here was turned into a house for a bit before it was left to fall into its current condition. Perhaps someone could correct me if I am wrong.

😀
…..i can’t believe the tower still has some original fitments! Even the fireplace still has a typical MOD/WD metal dustpan beside it!!!

Interesting! I had never heard of RAF Woolfox. The large building looks like a Gun Butt.
