Does anyone have a map or plan of RAF Binbrook or any pointers of what to see, my son and I plan to visit there shortly, with permission as usual and don’t really want to miss anything.
Thanks in advance.

I’ve got an old Ronny Reagan mask you can borrow, LOL.
Yeah, that won’t look TOO suspicious. Group of people wandering round an industrial estate wearing masks 😮

I’ll have to go incognito I think, last time I visited I was unceremoniously booted off site by an irate owner of one of the units who seemed to think I was some sort of pikey!

Hi.
If you do get in, have a good look at the centre hangar. If you look at it with the airfield at your back, in the fifties, the left hand end was 101 Sqdn and the right hand was 617 Sqdn (mine) we had Lincolns and then the Canberra. I would love to live my time again in the RAF. I am still with aviation, even at 77 years young I manage to put time in at the local aviation museum at Dumfries. Have fun.

With reference to seeing binbrook there is quite a lot of interesting parts to see.
A lot of it im afraid is sadly not accesible .
The airfield itself is practically gone im afraid but the tech site has some interesting buildings to see.
The officers mess which is sadly in such a derelict state i think it will be demolished is still fascinating to look at .
Alot of the buildings are occupied and some have been demolished.
I went round the camp several years ago before it got into the state its in and found many interesting things including remains of a lightning wing as well as old ground equipment ranging from waqrtime up to its last days.
I was also lucky enough to salvage several items from the control tower before it was demolished as well as several diagrams and various paperwork .
Its a shame binbrook has ended up the way it is as it holds a special place in my heart.
I also like you would love to visit the camp so would love to get in contact with the owners to gain access as i am doing a detailed history of the camp for hopefully a future book or website once i have gathered enough information .
I do have several pictures and arefacts on the base so if you have any pictures or anything i could see it would be extremely gratefull.
I could try and scan you a map and list some places to look at if your interested also.
Drop me a email if you like
