Merlin Maintenance

For the BBMF, it seems like Aircraft Restoration and Air Antlantique are doing
the aircraft maintenance, but who is doing the work on the Merlins? Is
RetroAir still around, and involved?

Retro Road and Track (who I believe have a contract for overhauling the BBMF Merlins and Griffons) and Maurice Hammond are the two in the UK that Im aware of.

When we did the Lanc major, the engines were sent back to BBMF – they have the facilities to do light overhauls.

Classic Aircraft Maintenance working with Air Atlantique did the Lanc major. The only Air Atlantique involvement was the hire of the hangar and the recruitment of one of their classic flight engineers. CFS did alot of component repairs including the undercarriage legs, Retro track and Air were involved, and many more.

I do believe Maurice Hammond does the odd Merlin rebuild in his spare time…
