Cockpitfest 2008 – June 14 & 15, 2008

A new update on the Newark Air Museum website advises that the booking forms have now gone out for Cockpitfest 2008 and the Aeroboot aviation and avionics sale; has everyone received them and who’s going?

“Previous participants should by now have received their 2008 information packs and we would like to confirm that ALL types of aircraft cockpits are welcome and will be on view to the public…..”

Full details can be found on the News Page of their website.

Crikey that DB 8A-3N is a REAL rarity , a WW2 Dutch Recce,Bomber, I am real suprised anything is left of them after the nazis drove through holland ,

well I be Jiggered, one of the rarest birds of all , and at Cockpit fest,
sadly Ive got to miss this year, as “Prior engagement ” is in the way, But be sure to see you next year with Canberra WH887 in Tow 😀

Since my earlier post I have spoken to someone who was at the museum when the DB 8A-3N arrived – I understand it was largely in bits in the back of an estate car and was re-assembled on site!
Real enterpise – I wonder what Customs thought??

Sounds like a good weekend’s coming up.

I will be there both days as aircraft guide/cockpit opener, I will bag a few pics of her for you.

Anyone sees me there come give me a shout (6’3″ doofus with a black ‘Lakes Lightnings’ baseball cap on).

Regards,

John.

It’s just a week away now….Modellers can also enjoy it because you can actually see what the cockpit should look like in 3d technicolour…….the aeroboot will also be fun and often helps you find that elusive part.

I spotted this last night on the Newark news page, which also might be of interest the modellers..

“STOP PRESS – A batch of 200 good quality made up plastic aircraft kits are amongst the many varied aviation items that will be on sale at the Aeroboot on June 14 & 15, 2008.”

It’s just a week away now….all over the country (and indeed also the Netherlands!) people are frantically spraying this, tidying that, fitting it too!
There rare some crackers attending….my old Swift has been given the treatment she deserved when she passed to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection and looks fantastic (They even got the canopy motor working!!), Lightning, some great aircraft panels and interiors. There are numerous others attending. We have 12 Hunter cockpits which should be lined up in Mk order so you can see the differences.
It is a lovely weekend with great people to talk to, aircraft to look at and hopefully some great flypasts.
So, if you have never been; try it its fun; if you have been; welcome back it will be good to chat! Modellers can also enjoy it because you can actually see what the cockpit should look like in 3d technicolour…….the aeroboot will also be fun and often helps you find that elusive part.
