I was reliably informed last night that Popham Airfield had a new jet resident, so I made a slight detour early today for a quick look.
Presently in open store in the airfield car park, BAC Jet Provost T.5 XW311 has recently changed hands, and is now owned locally.
Ending its service days with 6FTS at Finningley, ‘311 was used at RAF Cosford for several years for ground instruction prior to demobbing last year.
The sun’s location was a bit troublesome, but I hope to return soon to get some better shots and when the car park is a bit emptier 🙂
Thanks to Popham Airfield’s Dick Richardson for the info and permission to publish the images!

Popham is to be the old girl’s short-term home until the owner has re-enforced the roof of his garage upon which it is to be mounted atop IIRC.

Did it fly in? John
Just an observation. Is it likely, that an airworthy JP is flown in and then dumped in the carpark:rolleyes:
Would have thought they could at least keep airworthy machines on the grass:D 😀

Always thought the red & White Jet Prov T5’s to be a rather atractive little jet.
What are the plans for the aircraft?
I don’t think anything definite has been decided at the moment, but Popham have very kindly offered space for it for the forseeable future.
