Nearly finished reading this book. I normally like to read accounts of fighter/bomber pilots stories, so was a unsure if this autobiography of a airline/military transport pilot would be my cup of tea
My God! What a superb book it has turned out to be! Probably one of my all-time favourites – I would reccomend this to anyone. Anyone else read it?

I love the parts about flying American Airlines DC-2s and 3s.
Probably his best work, a true aviation classic.

Ernest Gann died on 19.12.91 and is sadly missed. His last book was “Black Watch” about the TR-1,and he did visit RAF Alconbury in the spring of 1989 to do research on the 95th Recon Squadron. “Fate is the Hunter” is essential reading for wannabee flightdeck candidates.
