Aircraft identification conundrum

Hello there ladies and gents

What an interesting forum you have here. Drifted into the scrapyard thread and got stuck. Great stuff. How nice to be in the company of fellow deteriorating aircraft enthusiasts. If you will permit my busting upon the scene with a new thread, I thought I might enlist your help in identifying the aircraft in the accompanying photograph. It was taken by a provocative member of another forum and all I know is that the location is Duxford in the 1980s. It is ringing bells in the old gray matter, but I just can’t nail it…should know it…can’t get it out of my mind…can’t sleep…it’s identity remains a mystery to us all. Something tells me that it will not be much of a challenge for members of this forum:

Strewth! What took you so long? A blink and a scratch and it’s all over. Thanks. Now I can sleep.
