B17 Near Los Angeles

I was over in LA last week and on my way to LAX airport around 4:30pm on Thurs (about 30mins away) I just happened to glance out the window to my right. Low and behold a B17 about 200 ft off the ground making a landing approach to some local airfield. Beautiful sight in the pink sky. Don’t know the plane but it was distinguished by its yellow engine cowles and tail fin. Any ideas ?
