I read that there is a fight on to try to prevent an airship hangar at Moffett Field, California being demolished. Erected and used by US Navy airships such as the USS Macon in the 1920/30s the structure is leaking polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) that can cause cancer.
A previous attempt to seal the PCBs in with a coating of bitumen has not worked and the US Navy say demolition, at an estimated $12m, would be about half the cost of preserving it.
