Duxford Visit – 16 Jan 08

At the start of the week the weather reports were showing a lull on Wednesday between the two water logged fronts covering the country, so I booked a flexi leave and crossed my fingers hoping the weather men got it right. I was greeted with blue sky and wall to wall sunshine all day and even some aeroplanes came out to play for my first visit to Duxford of the new year.

TFC Havard and Mk XIVe Spitfire were out on the airfield for some engine runs and the ARCo Fennec went up for a few maneuvers through the sky. The F-86A had a false start in the morning as there seemed to be a problem with one of the drop tanks just after it wound up the engine. After repairs it went up in the afternoon for a trip to Lakenheath, I was told.

Not as cold as it could have been but an enjoyable start to my Duxford year.

Cracking shots Brian, seems you caught a good Jan day!
Does anyone know, is the Shack 3/3 to be preserved as a complete aircraft now? Good to see it receiving attention.

Nice prop vortex on the Fennec. What is the “Tapestry” biplane? Stampe with a Lycoming? If so, the cowling looks a bit non-Lyc shaped perhaps as a result of being mated to the fuselage.
