GR3 Harrier Details Please

Not strictly historic, but I am currently building a 1/24 scale GR3 for museum display.I intend to angle the flaps lowered & need to know at what angle they are posed when the aircraft is at rest please?

Also does anyone have any photo’s showing the open flap detail? If so can somebody please download a couple for me.

If I recall correctly (and it was a long time ago – I was on 1(F) in 1978!) – the flaps were either “up” or “down”, but there was an intermediate position when big tanks were fitted so they didn’t clobber them!

This may help. The lower pic is the Airfix kit GR.1 XV788 Originally “M” later 11. This photo was taken before she left for Belize and a watery grave off the Keys.

DB is quite right, less likely to fall off the wing during maintenance!! But also taxying with nozzles aft didn’t do much good to the flaps. Now where is my 10pence piece to check for delamination!-still a technique used on the 146.

The flaps were left retracted – no need to have them down plus if they did people would walk into them.
