Iain has a very interesting e-mail address.
Wont divulge where as havent been in contact with him yet and I feel it wouldnt be ethical of me to say so without his permission.
Suffice to say Im sure he will know what it is off (or will have the facilities to find out) and that its an extremley good home within the UK – certainly a lot better than I expected.
E-bay is good after all (probably a one off!!!!!)

Well, ‘Iain’ bought it for £10.49, is he a member of the Forum? If so, hopefully he can tell us what it was from!

Definitley not a sit down Andover, the blue cheat line is inches above the roundel..and nothing shows on the plate..
The CC2 looks like a good option, especially with the sicky blue colour that Jag has commented on.
By: JagRigger - 16th January 2008 at 12:26
And the CC2’s were grey and white, with the roundel on the lower, curved grey bit:

As was at least one C1:

If I remember rightly the Andover had mushroom-headed rivets. The rear-loading versions were camouflaged and the Queens Flight machines were all sorts of colours.

OK – it does look like a fuselage skin.
My immediate thought was Andover – I believe they were a greenish blue finish internally. Despite my best efforts I cant find a close picture up of that bit of fuselage to compare rivet pitch / spacing.

My guess would be a Blackburn Beverley!;)

***Moderators Please feel free to Remove if it Breaks the Rules***
Just noticed this on here. Im afraid to say its mine…
I found it a while ago, cant quite remember where (believe it or not) but ive had it sitting in my warehouse for a considerable length of time. Finally got around to doing something with it so put it on “there”.
No idea what its off. As per CJH’s post it does have a curve to it so its not wing related. That prob makes it removed from the fuselage. It is metal (Aluminium) with a number of lines of rivets.
It appears to be completley surrounded by Grey as opposed to half white/grey as you would expect from say a Hastings fuselage or Argosy boom. To big for any small aeroplanes.
It has numerous stringers and longerons riveted to the back to give it plenty of strength (this actually makes it fairly heavy) so I would say something pressurised….not a helicopter.
No noticeable part numbers but is painted a nice sicky shade of light blue on the inside. Has been cut with either an angle grinder (that was probably hard work!!) or a Disc cutter.
If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
Im happy for it to go to a good home (I have another one that Im keeping).
and Keith, its a B-25 from the 2007 Saywells calender in rather a nice frame. Not to sure what Im going to do with it yet.

Perhaps someone from here should buy it and put in their garden to act as a sun shade for round things to grow underneath. They could then photograph it and add it to Cee’s Aviation garden items thread.

It’s tricky at any time, and even trickier without any accurate size.
Just to state the obvious, it’s got the large centre spot, so it’s post-war. If it’s roughly three feet across then it’s probably come from a fuselage or tail boom, given the obvious curvature. If it’s from a fast jet then it’s probably pre-early 70s (cos that’s when two-colour roundels became the standard).
If the background colour is grey rather than silver that might point towards a transport or training type.
Beyond that we’re in the land of guesswork. Chipmunk? Basset? Argosy? Who knows?

Arnold10 come on in, these people don’t bite, they argue and bicker, but they don’t bite. I have no idea what this may be from ! But whats the aircraft on the montage behind ? Keith
By: Peter - 14th January 2008 at 21:42
is it metal as I see panel lines and rivet detail?
By: CJH - 14th January 2008 at 21:41
welcome to the forum indeed
I am assuming that the hint of grey around the roundel is the paint on the metal….the suggested uniform curve suggests to me that it is cut from the body rather than the wing….this may be camera angle of course
from what is the question indeed….no idea is my honest answer

Worth it at that price if you are going to collect it! Where are you going to hang it? Welcome to the Forum and don’t be too much of a lurker.:)
