The image on the front of said book shows the aircraft in camouflage and I think with stripes under the registration BUT this image was taken from a painting, so it may not be correct. Haven’t got the book to hand so I cannot check whether there are any other clues.

Yes, the plane was in camouflage. No stripes under the regi on the fuselage visible. Underside unknown. Colourscheme looks standard

It was a copy of Flight 777 that started this , the photo in it shows the aircraft as PH-ALI , I am interested to know how the aircraft looked while operated by BOAC , was this aircraft camouflaged , was it marked with the stripes under the registration , was the underside colour Sky or Silver ?

There are several pictures of DC-3 PH-ALI as G-AGBB. Check the book “Flight 777” of Ian Colvin or the book “Dakota” published in 1985 in the Netherlands. This last mentioned book has several pictures of AGBB showing the damage of the German attack on 15Nov42.

Thanks for that , as it appears there are not likely to be any photos of this particular aircraft , are there any of similar aircraft from the period ? The purpose of the question is to find out the colour scheme worn by this wartime airliner .

No photo but there is quite a bit of info on www.rafdavidstowmoor.org on this incident. Either use their search facility or look at ‘operations June 1943’.
