Hi,
Apologies if this is common knowledge or has been covered before but I was wondering if anyone had further information on the Bristol Belvedere at MOSI.
I understand that XG454 was involved in aheavy landing at Farnbrough in 1961 (or thereabouts) and was declared a right-off. I have been informed that the current aircraft is actually a cut and shut (although it was an airworthy one). Does anyone know the identity of the Belvedere which gave up its back end for the repairs to XG454?
Many thanks,
Anthony

One of the funniest stories I’ve read in a while!

Belvedere starter explosions
I wouldn’t put money on it – it’s just that I remembers that several Belvedere were subject to starter explosions, and one of those could be an obvious candidate. I have read much more about such explosions somewhere, but I can’t remember where, so I found this story by Googling. As I had not read about this particular farce before, I thought I would share it.

Link works great, what a debacle! So your money would be on XG475? I agree it is a possible candidate as the remains were transferred to 71 M.U. at Bicester in 5/67 although this is six years after the initial accident to XG454.

Could the donor have been the subject of the hilarious account on pages 55-58 of this story?
I hope the link works!

Welcome to the Forum and an interesting question which I hope you find the answer to.
I would narrow the search down to XG461, 463, 465 or 473 with my best guess being XG465 due to the closeness of their accidents!
