Newbie needs Help with Westland Scout parts

Hello and a happy new year from the new guy.
I am looking for bits for my static re-build of AH1 Scout helicopter XP 853. I have been slowly adding to the airframe over the last 3 years since I purchased it on eBay but I still need a main instrument panel, This is top of my wants list along with a collective.
Thanks for any help.
Simon.

I know someone with a Westland Wasp who may have a few spares. I would suspect there is an amount of commonality?

E-mail me for details.

Re. Westland Scout parts

Hello Thanks for the posts so far…….
I am in contact with Everret Aero at present on a major part for the restoration but they are not to sure about any spare panels at the moment.
I will certainly try the Army Air Corp at Middle Wallop as the helicopter was stationed there for most of its life.
After 3 abortive emails to the helicopter museum I had all but given up on them to be honest…I shall make it a new years resolution to start again with them. Apparerntly they have the largest collection of records on the service of British helicopters so it would be nice to find out some more background on XP853’s history in service.
In the early days of my time with the Scout, Ritch & Max up at Bruntingthorpe were very helpfull with providing parts from a crashed Scout which really got me through the initial “Oh my god what have I done phase” .
After a couple of years of gathering various parts I hope to start the good bit. The helicopter is now under permanant cover, with the building of a carport. This saves alot of messing about with tarps and big blue covers! The first part of the restoration will be the removal of the old damaged roof struture. The interior will be painted while the old roof is taken off for ease of access. I shall keep you updated on progress with photo’s.
Please keep your eyes peeled for me in the hunt for the panel.
Thanks
Simon.

Hi there – well there are two at Brunters IIRC – Best bet is to PM Ritch & Max – they might be able to help you out

Hello and welcome to the Forum. Will be looking forward to seeing photos of the completed project when ready!

In your position, my first call would be to the Helicopter Museum who if they cannot help, should know where to obtain spares. Good luck!
