Polikarpov PO 2 – Restore or build

Hello ,new to the forum
Found your group during my search for a Polikarpov Po 2 .
I’m hoping someone can help.
What I need is:
Any restorable (project)planes available.
Shevtson M11 Radials engine/s or parts available
and, if a plane is not available, a set of plans for a full size build ?
I read a posts back in 2004 from a chap named Oleg in Russia who was building one.
Museum contacts in the US have not resulting in any drawing sufficient to build one.
Any information would be most appreciated.
Best Regards.

Lovely NewForest, many thanks.
85,000 US is a bit rich for me but not knowing what the going rate is, I would like to research the Saint-Petersburg chap.
Do you have more contact details on Sergei Stepanenko ?
I have family in Ukraine,(not Aviation oriented at all !), that could help.

Generally you are better off buying a flying aircraft than to build/restore if you can find what you are looking for in restored condition. Buying a flying wreck is not a good idea, then it is better to start the restoration your self and do it right. A good restored aircraft is usually cheaper than doing the restoration yourself.

PO2

Hello HP
Original was my first choice but I thought I would keep the door open for other possibilities.
Any leads or contacts would be appreciated
I have inquired to Old Warren but no response as yet.

One other item I forgot to ask was photo’s of the bomb rack the Russians used in WW II. Interested to see how and where the attachment point was located.

Thanks Again

PO2

Buy an original for a fraction of the cost of building one. There is a lot to these machines and they aint worth much.

An original with provenance has got to be the way to go.

I saw one a while back on one of the sales sites. It wasn’t a lot of money.

There is one in bits at Old Warden. I am sure you can have a close look at it.
