Harrier T.2 ID?

Does anyone out there know the serial number of the Harrier T.2 which was in use by 233 OCU at Wittering in 1975 and carried the tail number “54”.

YES, it would be great to have her saved and put back in the colours shown on your photograph!! Glad to be of assistance.

Thanks Phantom Phil

Thanks for that info Phantom Phil, somewhere down the years I’d lost the note I took at the time. Just to cheer Mudmover, I enclose one of the photo’s I took at Wittering back in ’75, showing her in better condition than she was in the photo you posted.

That’s sad to see-had a few ‘interesting’ backseat rides in it when it was Red 12 on No 1f.

Hi there, I think you will find this aircraft to be XW268. It’s service history is below.

T2 later T2A, T4, T4A. To 233 OCU 1/71. 68/233 (3/73), 54/233 (12/73), U/233 (7/79). Loaned to Indian Navy Training Unit, Yoevilton 2/83 – 3/83. 12/1 (11/84), U/233 (12/84 – 1990), 720/899 NAS (90), Anniversary Markings 899, 1942 to 1992, To Dunsfold to T8 Standard (93), Recat T4A (94), Spares recovery (95), to Park Aviation Supply, Faygate, W.Sussex (1/97) – To date.

Phil. – See picture, possibly a sad end or could someone save this bird???

P.S. I don’t know why this aircraft was withdrawn from use, possibly some sort of flying accident and then used for spares??
