RAF Museum Site

Interesting site from the RAF Museum people. Lots of great photos. Worth taking a look.

The old hands at 781 NAS used to dote on this one – Beech Expediter KP110 from RNAS Lee-on-Solent (blue/white “barge” scheme). A very smart machine.

Although the majority are pretty well known, the Shark over Nelson and the “booted” Osprey are particularly nice.

As for the others, THIS is one I always liked. Russell Adams of Gloster-Whitworth (originally just Gloster), presumably stood right next to Charles Brown, took one every so slightly better IMHO.

That’s a nice site and is very welcome but it is only a tiny, tiny fraction of the 250,000 photos they have. It will be good for Christmas presents and photos to hang on the wall.

Lets hope it is the first step in the reopening of the main photo library so researchers/publishers etc can make full use of their amazing collection.

In the meantime, there is also the Imperial War Museum’s photo collection on-line: http://collections.iwm.org.uk/server/show/nav.00g005 You can’t get them on mugs but there is a far wider choice of images.

I could spend some serious money there! Check out the Worthy Down Spit IX and Vulcan proto pics – UK Aviation industry and Charles at their finest.

Nice to be able to order some of the great photos taken by the Late Charles E. Brown.
