Vickers Vincent

“Just Me” today tacked the Q below onto a thread from two years ago. Rather than confuse, I have started a new thread. Can you help?

Forgive me resurrecting an old thread, but I wished to discuss the naming of the Vickers Vincent. The 8 Squadron Website describes the action that led to the first DFC being awarded to a graduate from the RAF College at Cranwell in 1923. This was to one “Plt Off Vincent”. Seeing as this DFC was awarded for air policing in the Middle East and the Vincent aircraft was specially modified for air policing in the Middle East, are these events connected? It may be a tenuous link but the Vickers factory may have been struggling to find more “V” names. Just a thought.
