I was shocked to read in the latest Flypast that Peter Moran of Poulton Lancashire, has died. Peter was a founder member of the British Aviation Archaeological Council and edited the mag for many years. He had a great sense of humour and was always very helpful with research matters.
I had no idea that Peter was ill. My sympathy to Beryl and family.

Peter Moran RIP
Thank you to the various individuals who have either phoned or emailed following the announcement in ‘FlyPast’ that I had passed away! I am assuming that in fact it was my namesake who wrote for a magazine entitled ‘Rapide’ who has died (?). Anyway, I am alive and well and still living in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, and I am always glad to hear from my associates from the past. God willing I will get back to writing the odd article for ‘FlyPast’ in the future.
With best wishes
Squires Gate (Peter Moran)

Peter Moran alive!
I missed the Flypast ****-up, but came home to be shocked by an email last night giving the same information – I had only had an email from Peter a couple of days before and correspondance with him over some research he is doing on the old target area at Pilling – Didnt want to ring Peter direct, just in case! But rang Russell Brown who lives close to him and knows him very well and confirmed he is still most definitely with us 🙂
It appears there is another Peter Moran, who possibly lived in the Merseyside/Cheshire area and wrote a couple of articles for the North West Aviation magazine “Rapide”? If it is this gentleman who has passed away I would like to pass on our group’s sympathies to his family and hope this confusion has not upset them.

peter moran
i sincererly hope the rumours of peters death have been grossly over stated,i was privileged to have dealings with him some years ago and always found him a total gentleman, a great find in this aviation preservation world.

I am even more shocked now in a better way….Peter is fine, I just spoke on the phone to him. Somebody somewhere made a mistake.
