Hello
A friend suggested that I start putting old films back onto video again (or rather, DVD). I know there is some interest in old airshows (1950s to 1970s), but would people pay good money to watch old airshows or obscure BBC documentaries about aviation on DVD? Also thinking about a DVD featuring old RAF Fire Service training films. Anyone interested? Ten years ago I put an old 1949 film about Hull docks onto VHS and it sold like hot cakes.
Best Wishes
Phillip Rhodes

The Ark Royal documentary series you mention was called “Sailor” and was an indepth “reality” type production featuring the crew in various departments of the ship including of course lots of flying stuff. – Buccs and Phantooms…wonderful!
It went out 1975/76 ish.?
Served to motivate me to Fly Navy…….rotary not catapults 😮 though…joined in 77.

I remember one called “Colonel Culpepper’s Flying Circus” that I would like to see again.
That’s the one – a quick Google reveals that it was a “World About Us” documentary and was actually released on VHS. I seem to remember that it portrayed CAF as a group of barmy right wing loonies from Texas who were all ranked Colonel and who operated the largest private air force in the world under the auspices of a fictitious leader called Colonel Culpepper.

I also remember a documentary about the Confederate Air Force which was good…

I would imagine that there’s a market for this kind of stuff. I vaguely remember a documentary about the Ark Royal which had Phantoms (or Buccaneers) aboard which I’d like to see again, I also remember a documentary about the Confederate Air Force which was good…

Better be careful. Ever heard the word ‘copyright’ ??
Yes, and I’ve also heard of royalty fees and reproduction licences, not to mention design and printing costs, DVD mastering and production, etc.
