Not easy being green..

Have only found out recently that the early MkI spits were painted a different colour than the traditional shade of Cockpit green called “Eau de nil” or Apple Green.Is there any indication when it was implemented at the factories to change over to the more familiar “Cockpit Green” (Or Humbrol 78..)?
