EDWARDS AFB – People driving into Edwards Air Force Base from the North Gate off Highway 58 have a new sentinel to greet them: the historic B-52 bomber that enjoyed a long career as the mother ship for the famous X-15 rocket planes and other flight test programs.
Retired in December 2004, the bomber was moved to its new home outside the North Gate early this month after years of storage in various spots along the Edwards flightline.
