Something to do with the Kent RAFA Branch back in the seventies perhaps to commerate Arnhem or the Rhine crossing ??

Hi Contrail,
Yes I have that pic as well, although didn’t link to it as I couldn’t remember where I got it from. It is the same shield and looks like its some kind of air transport association logo/emblem as I can make out ‘AIR’ and what looks like ‘ASSOCIATION’ around the edge of the shield. Bottom looks like a globe but I can’t determine what the rest is. Someone out there may recognise it, hopefully.

if you mean the thing just under the nose it looks to be a ‘boat’ vhf aerial. Although quite why they put it there I don’t know.
