Has anyone been to see the old Battle HQ across the road from Binbrook? I remember having a look at it in 1986 but it was flooded with water and you could only climb down a couple of ladder rungs.
I haven’t as yet,but its fate is similar to that of the old 12 Group Fighter Command H.Q. at Watnall in Notts.Full of water & nobody seems to care about its importance.:mad:
On speaking to someone at the HGV centre at Watnall it had been pumped out a number of years ago by the fire service so the RAF could remove some equipment from there.(took 4 days apparently:eek: )He went on to say that it was told it is still prety complete down there with the gallery windows still intact:eek: 😮 .
Unfortunatly now in both cases to dive & explore the would only be allowed by licenced cave divers.
