Catalina Situation

What is the status of the UK population of Catalinas?

Are Plain Sailing still looking for a replacement?

What has happened to the former Duxford one that went to Lee on Solent?

I dont and never did understand why the SC group bought an airworthy one (ex Greenpeace) to use for spares to restore VR-BPS which I would assume was in horrendous condition.

Dublin one has joined the museum there – Lee on Solent example I am sure would be ‘available’ at the right price.

Apologies if this is hijacking this thread, but there is a link.
RE: N285RA formly a long time UK resident. Is it still at Beauvais? And what are the future plans for it?

The ex Greenpeace aircraft N423RS ? is still at Lee on Solent as seen from the air about three weeks ago.

VR-BPS was at Lee on Solent and moved to Weston airfield near Dublin about two/three years ago.

Hope this helps

VP-BPS was owned by Plane Sailing until it was involved in a landing accident on Southampton Water. It was under restoration at Lee-on-Solent but has since moved to Ireland – near Dublin.

Plane Sailing currently operate G-PBYA on the airshow circuit – and have for a few years now. There is lots more info on this website: www.catalina.org.uk

I’m afraid I’ve not been following movements of the UK Catalinas that closely recently so I’ll duck out here and let others who are more qualified comment further.

Wake up at the back!

The Cat at Duxford is operated by Plane Sailing.

The former aircraft operated by them has gone to Northern Ireland. I know not why – anyone?

No idea what happened to the one at Lee – guess its still there.
