Monospar VH-UTH – Newark

The Monospar’s arrived back at Newark Air Museum and is now in their Workshop.

I understand that it arrived back early Wednesday morning, which meant that I missed it being off-loaded.

#2, T-21: book: 0709104758 John Morris, Two Men in a Flying Machine, 1969. Ends with author, one of the intrepids that flew it home, seeing it again, heap at Panshanger, noting rebuild soon to flying condition.

I have been told that CARG partially reassembled the airframe before it returned to Newark.

I also understand that NAM are already well into evaluating how to take this rare project through to completion.

It would be nice to see it complete and finished as it is a rare bird.

Monospar update spotted ..

“Monospar moved onto display
In a series of co-ordinated moves on Tuesday October 16, 2007 the General Aircraft Monospar ST.12 VH-UTH airframe and wings were moved from our on-site workshop across to Display Hangar 1. The fuselage will remain here for the foreseeable future whilst the project is evaluated by the Restoration Manager.”

I believe that the Wallace went to Hendon; the Vampire pod rotted away at NFs bungalow; the Magister G-AKAT flies at Breighton; and the Prentice is displayed at Winthorpe see on their list:

I also spotted this earlier today http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk/scene.htm

Thanks i don’t remember the name of the railway site but it was the nucleus of todays Newark Air Museum. There was the Wallace fuselage frame,Monospar,Vampire T.11 and Hawk Trainer G-AKAT all dismantled. The Prentice stood out on Winthorpe airfield till it got vandalised. the monospar was stored at Panshanger after arrival in this country .

Looking forward to seeing this aircraft again as the late Neville Franklin showed it to me (after cycling from
Cranwell),stored under the railway arch’s in Newark in the late sixties in a dismantled state and there was a book written about its ferry flight from Australia to the Uk by a Doctor in about 1964.

From your description I guess that you saw the aircraft at the Abbotts boiler factory.

I am told that Charlie Morris, the son of the book author [Dr John Morris] is the owner of the Genarico that has just flown in Australia, which was featured in Flypast earlier this year.
