Hi all, as we have been spending the last couple of days up there painting, I took a few breaks and took these shots of 558 today, she certainly is coming alive, very nice, well done all of the crew

Thanks again to the lads that were doing their ‘stuff’ on her today and for making me welcome 😀

Thanks for the info Peter.
Just to thorw the clock back abit Ive dug these out of the albums, as requested by another forum member,
These were taken on 558’s delivery day 23rd March 93 after the crowds had dispersed

This one was from the May open day in 94, first thing in the morning

XH558 gone walkies today!
Just checked in at the TVOC site and the cams show her being towed round to the run up pan again with a few service vehicles in tow. Wonder if this is the frst Taxi run??

Its one of a few a/c that I dont care what colour it is as long as it flys!

No plans to change the paint scheme, seems to be something to do with the HLF and their requirements that 558 remains as is, even if it was not the reason at currnet prices you would be looking at a five figure sum to clean te airframe down and respray it complete.
A lot of chat has centred around having her done out in Anti flash white but unless things change and money become available I for one doubt this will happen.
Looks like Taxi tests will begin next week, things are moving on slowly but surely towards flight, best of luck to them all.

Wasnt there a plan to change her colours alltogether?

The freshly painted areas stand out rather against her older, original paint, too.

Those exhaust vents look far too clean. I hope they get dirty 😉
