"Bristol Freighter Airplane Historic Aviation Journey" The trip home?

Folks,

I found this on Dave Homewards Wings over NZ forum (an excellent site)
http://rnzaf.proboards43.com/index.cgi

it is a youtube video titled “Bristol Freighter Airplane Historic Aviation Journey”

It opens with the credits:
“MileHigh Productions proudly presents”

“Bristol Freighter C-FDFC’s Journey Home”

and closes with:
“Bristol Freighter C-FDFC’s Journey Home – arriving April 28th 2007”

Added: April 02, 2007
From: Milehighmovieguy
Follow the Historic journey of Bristo… Follow the Historic journey of Bristol Freighter C-FDFC (MSN 13218) from Terrace, British Columbia, Canada, to London England’s Heathrow Airport.

It was posted on 2 April 2007 (the day after April fools day, and possibly not allowing for an international server time?) is it true or a joke? as I havent seen anything about the current status of this Freighter, its intended sale, or any activity to take it back to the UK let alone any flight or arrival?

Here is the Youtube link:

Hi all,

My name is Arnold Klappe and I am the gentleman that made the Bristol DVD and has the Carvair DVD under final edits. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to let me know.
I also have some answers for you all.

Cking your comments are 100% accurate. The video was shot during the flight, but has just now been released.

I will have lots of footage of YQS in the next Bristol DVD. This will include the last ever flight of a Bristol freighter as the plane arrives in Westaskawin. The only Bristol aircraft frlight this century I believe.

A.

C-GYQS in Canada

The Freighter has now been officially handed over to the Reynold’s Museum after a couple of years in flux due to the protracted legal proceedings of Hawkair’s financial difficulties. The ferry to the UK proved beyond the previous buyer’s resources, fiscal and technical, and the sale was cancelled. The 170 was ferried from Terrace to Wetaskiwin in late 2004 and title transfer just occured this past July.. a full story was published in Propliner Magazine #100.

The DVD currently on youtube will soon be available from a Vancouver BC company, soon to be followed by a Carvair and also a bush flying DVD… all from footage taken by a Hawkair member during his years of mining camp supply missions.

Andy

thanks for that, I was interested in knowing about the Freighter I confused it for, C-GYQS, the last airworthy Freighter, currently in Canada and muted for sale and possible return to the UK?

It is on display at the Reynolds Alberta Museum but I understood it was later advertised for sale?

Anyone know that aircraft’s (C-GYQS) current status?

As Cking says, it crashed at Enstone in 1996. The fuselage was crushed, but all on board miraculously survived. The fuselage was scrapped, but anything salvagable was salvaged and in stored by the owner. The single wing section and one Hercules are still at Enstone. The cockpit is kept at the owners house.

smiles, thankyou cking

I never thought of that earlier Freighter, I simply assumed this referred to the last remaining airworthy one and the hopes to acquire it and return it to the UK.

Anyone know that aircraft’s current status?

Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad tidings but…. That video is at least twelve years old. The Freighter did make it back to England. It spent some time at LHR being worked on, it took part in the LHR flypast and then was writain off in a take off accident at Enstone airfield in Oxfordshire. Lage lumps of it were there for a number of years.
