Part Identification

Hi all
Anyone know what this is ? I know it’s from a Lancaster, 80mm long and has a Brass ? spring. The pointed end would have swivelled in the ally. alloy body and the spring is held in place by a soldered pin. My thoughts are some kind of catch ??? Anyone know what this is and have a picture of one in place ?
