Aero Legends has modified the nose-art on Supermarine Spitfire T.IX NH341 to pay tribute to Her Majesty The Queen

Historic aircraft operator Aero Legends based at North Weald and Headcorn, has modified the nose-art on Supermarine Spitfire T.IX NH341 to pay tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, who passed away on September 8, aged 96.

Formerly known as Elizabeth, the Spitfire now flies as Queen Elizabeth II. In a statement, Aero Legends said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. For over seventy years she has dedicated her life to service for her country and the Commonwealth, and has been a figurehead of national unity and stability at a time of enormous change.

“While it's always a privilege to fly Spitfire NH341 Elizabeth, it has been more so this last week after changing the nose-art to pay tribute to the late Queen. Elizabeth will wear her updated scheme – Queen Eizabeth II – throughout the national period of mourning. As a mark of respect all experiences and planned operations scheduled for Monday, September 19 have been postponed.”

Aero Legends’ season continues until November from North Weald, offering Spitfire, Harvard and Tiger Moth flying experiences.
