The new warehouse will boost the group’s handling capacity reduce wait times, and help decongest traffic

Cargo handler Alliance Ground International (AGI) has opened a new 76,000sq ft facility five minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport, for processing imported freight.

The off-site infrastructure will include 19 cargo bay doors, active Unit Load Device (ULD) charging stations, cold storage, pharmaceutical handling areas, and easy access to major highways.

As part of the company’s ongoing digitisation drive, the new warehouse will also feature electronic flight boards, mobile technology for ramp operations, and truck queuing and management software.

Meanwhile, outbound cargo will now be handled at a different building within the hub as part of a dual-facility strategy.

“Our solution increases our air cargo handling capabilities while reducing wait times and truck congestion on the airport service roads,” said Jared Azcuy, CEO of AGI.

He added: “It is a solution we have tried and tested at our other locations, and it will speed up processing, making for a more efficient and cost-effective operation. Our new facilities and digital solutions mean that AGI is more than ready to support customers in New Jersey.”

It will shortly be launching AGI U, a cargo learning centre dedicated to team member training and development.
