Air India’s jumbo farewell
Air India’s long association with the Boeing 747 neared its end on April 22 as the first of four jumbo jets departed Mumbai bound for the US. The aircraft, now registered as N940AS (c/n 28094), gave a traditional ‘wing wave’ as it left its Indian home. Originally registered as VT-EVA and named Agra, the 747-437 joined the airline in October 1996 and was one of more than 30 jumbos operated by Air India.
