B-52s in historic Eastern European deployment

Two B-52Hs from the USAF’s 2nd Bomb Wing recently arrived in Romania for Bomber Task Force 24-4 – the first time US strategic bomber aircraft have operated out of this East European country.The bombers flew from their home base at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, to Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base arriving on July 21, 2024. During their flight to Romania a USAFE-AFAFRICA press release stated the B-52Hs were: “intercepted by two Russian aircraft over the Barents Sea at approximately 8am Central European
