Bird strike considered as cause of fatal Frecce Tricolori crash in Turin

An MB-339PAN jet trainer belonging to the Italian Air Force’s (ItAF's) national aerobatic team, Frecce Tricolori (Tricolour Arrows), crashed just after taking off from Turin-Caselle Airport, northern Italy, on September 16, killing a five-year-old girl on the ground. The immediate aftermath of the crash, after MB-339PAN had hit the ground within the perimeter of Turin-Caselle Airport, slid along the grass, through the airfield's fencing and collided with a passing car, resulting in the death of a five-year-old girl and causing
