Bleak future for 400 leased airliners “potentially lost” to Russia
International lessors could stand to lose more than 400 commercial aircraft to Russia after sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine have made recovering their assets near impossible. Leading aviation analytics firm Cirium has warned that 423 aircraft are “potentially lost” to international markets forever. The company’s fleet data on February 28, four days after the conflict began, recorded 515 airliners which were leased to Russian customers by international lessors.
